Alt text for images in a few seconds
The alt text generator looks at your image and writes alternative text: a short, accurate sentence that screen readers read aloud and search engines use to understand the picture. Add the page topic and the alt text will focus on what matters there.
How to generate alt text
- Choose the type of alt text and, if you like, describe where the image is used.
- Press Choose a photo, paste an image with Ctrl+V or drag it into the frame.
- Copy the alt text into the alt attribute of your image, your CMS or your social media post. The length of each option is shown under it.
What makes good alt text
- It starts with the main subject and says what matters on the page.
- It does not begin with “image of” or “picture of”: screen readers already announce an image.
- It stays under about 125 characters; complex charts get a longer description.
- Important text in the image, such as a heading or numbers, is included.

What happens to my image?
It is used only to write the alt text. Images sent without an account are deleted within two hours, images of registered users after 7 days.
