ABNT Reference Generator

References in the ABNT format

ABNT (Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas) is the citation standard of Brazilian universities. References follow NBR 6023:2018, in-text citations follow NBR 10520:2023. The generator builds both from a link, a DOI, an ISBN or a title and keeps the Portuguese terms the standard requires: Disponível em, Acesso em, In, et al.

Main ABNT rules

• The author’s last name is in capital letters, followed by the first names: SILVA, João Carlos.
• Up to three authors are separated by semicolons; with four or more, the first author is followed by “et al.”.
• The title of a book, a website or a thesis is in bold; the subtitle after the colon is not.
• For online sources, the address and the access date are added: Disponível em: URL. Acesso em: 7 nov. 2026.
• The list is called REFERÊNCIAS, aligned left, single-spaced, with a blank line between entries.
