Take a photo of a document or choose photos — each one becomes a page of the scan.
Scan documents online with your phone
Document Scanner turns a photo of a paper document into a clean scan: it finds the edges of the page, straightens a page shot at an angle and removes shadows and the grey background. Download the scan as a PDF or JPG, or get the text as a searchable PDF or a Word file.
How to scan a document
- On a phone, press Scan with camera; on a computer, press Choose photos, paste a picture with Ctrl+V or drag files onto the page. Several pages at once are fine.
- The scanner finds the edges of the page. If the frame is off, press Edges and drag the corners — a magnifier helps to place them exactly.
- Choose a filter: Document for a white background and sharp text, Black and white for printing, Color to keep stamps and signatures in color.
- Put the pages in order and press Download PDF.
Scan documents on iPhone and Android
No app to install: open this page in the browser of your iPhone or Android phone and press Scan with camera. Lay the page on a dark, flat surface so the edges are visible, use daylight or a good lamp and hold the phone right above the page. Add the next page after each shot and send the finished PDF by email or messenger.
Searchable PDF and scan to Word
Searchable PDF reads the text on every page and adds it to the PDF, so you can search the file and copy the text. Text from the scan shows all the text in a box where you can correct it, copy it or download it as Word.
When it helps
- Send documents — an ID, certificates, a contract or a form — as one PDF instead of a pile of photos.
- Hand in homework and notes as one file with straight edges and no shadows.
- Keep receipts and warranty cards before they fade.
- Retype an old document or a book page: scan it and get the text in Word.
Photos are processed right in your browser and are not uploaded unless you ask to read the text. No account and no watermark.
